If you've ever been to Mammoth Lakes California you know of it's world-class skiing. You may however have missed it's unique geological wonder, hot springs Nestled between the Sierras.
Recently my old roommate and good Friend Alex Gudim and I ventured up to Mammoth for ski weekend, and it ended up being one of the most unique weekends I've spent up there since I was a kid. We kicked things off right, with a visit to the hot springs.
With our souls nurtured by Mother Earth's warm embrace in the hot springs, we headed east to the backcountry. The next day we were graced with the generosity of Scott Buell upon our arrival. He greeted us with snowmobiles which he delivered via a truck he customized himself, retrofitting a winch to the back of his truck bed.
The sierras provided their beauty, but also their less popular, but still well-known "Sierra Cement" (heavy snow), which left a stone to be turned another day. The Snowmobile ride, "back country" skiing, and adventure with friends, was more fun and exciting than I could have imagined.
Drop me a line for directions to the hot springs, you'll thank me later ;)Until next time. Peace!
